Staking Strategy: Launceston - Wednesday, 3rd December 2025

The first of two meetings this week is in Launceston on Wednesday night, with eight races scheduled.

There are some small fields scattered throughout the night, particularly early on.

The rail is at +5m with fine weather forecast.

R1 Book Your Christmas Party 10th December Class 6, 1100m

Ms Tasmania (6) returns from a 278-day break and produced a nice turn of foot when successful first up last preparation. Outstanding record at this venue. So does her main rival IN THE OCEAN (2). The 5yo gelding went to a new level last time in and doubt we've seen the best of him yet. JAGUAR STONE (5) was winless last preparation but consistently around the money and mostly in strong company. Terrific first up effort in last year's Goodwood. WHEELING (3) might get an easy lead in the small field but looks to be up against it.

Staking Strategy: Leaning the way of Ms Tasmania but you can make a case for any of the top 3. 2 units to win MS TASMANIA (6).

R2 Book Now For The Country Cup Marquee Longford Cup Day Bm68 Hcp, 1400m

Spring Bean (2) has been a regular winner since arriving from the mainland. Has a real liking for the synthetic but also capable on the grass. Resumes and goes very well fresh. STONE COLD STUNNER (3) had her chance last week at Hobart and although unable to quicken she stuck to her task. Very good run here first up behind Crack The Shutters and should be ready now third-up. CAPTAIN CAM (1) was okay in the Goodwood beaten just over 4 lengths then an early check second up put him out of contention.

Staking Strategy: Spring Bean was a comfortable winner 1st up last preparation. The favourite will be hard to get past but confident he can run well. 1 unit to win SPRING BEAN (2).

R3 Book Now For The House Of Arras Corporate Marquee Maiden, 1200m

Fierce 'N Fabulous (13) was a nice effort first up doing her best work late. The extra 100m looks suitable. MESSENGER OF GOD (4) wears blinkers on debut, trialled okay, albeit slowly away at his latest. SURF SOUL (5) and NIKOLSKY (10) have wide gates to overcome but both good late behind Oxidize when resuming after getting well back. AFFIRMATIONS (9) was thereabouts last time, similar claims again. ARCTIC ATTRACTION (11) just the one placing to date but only lightly raced and has upside. TURFACTION (6) has been placed 3 times on the mainland, trials have been only fair.

Staking Strategy: Fierce 'n' Fabulous entitled to be favourite on the back of her 1st up run. Drawn a touch awkwardly but with even luck will go close. 4 units to win FIERCE 'N FABULOUS (13)

R4 Ladbrokes Launceston Cup Wed 25th February Bm60 Hcp, 1200m

Ngapali Beach (5) continues to race well and is close to another win. Set herself a task last time after being slowly away. Awkwardly drawn but it looks a good race for her. STARS IN THE NIGHT (4) had every chance in tougher grade last start and is better suited here. Always dangerous when able to lead on own terms. NAZORIAN (6) and RED SPHERE (1) map for the right run and will be thereabouts. COOL HEART (2) in the mix but have all the favours winning here 2 runs back.

Staking Strategy: Ngapali Beach is racing well and deserves another win. All of her 3 runs this preparation have been good. Marked her clear top pick. 4 units to win NGAPALI BEACH (5).

R5 Cressy Chaff Cutters Longford Cup 1st January C1 Hcp, 1200m

Snowdonia (3) is ready to win third run back and brings the right form. Ran on soundly at Hobart in a strong class 1 race. COAL RIVER (2) finished alongside Snowdonia and has to be rated amongst the chances but needs luck from the wide draw. TROTSKY (4) was competitive in a class 2 race last week, he's going well, and was luckless the run prior. ANTHEIA (10) a beaten favourite last start and didn't seem to handle the rise in trip, better placed here but the gate is no spoil. STREETFIGHTER VEGA (6) was ordinary first up, now 5 weeks between runs and drops back in trip with blinkers going on for the first time. DIESEL'S SUNSHINE (7) resumes and maps for every chance as does CELTIC ROSE (11).

Staking Strategy: Snowdonia was beaten by a bad gate and a smart winner at Hobart, the one to beat here. 4 unit to win SNOWDONIA (3).

R6 Ladbrokes Outdoor Enclosure Cup Day Open Hcp, 1600m

Earendel (9) was a brilliant winner first up in class 4 grade coming from last at the 800m. Enjoys some nice weight relief here as does the ever-reliable SH'BOURNE MIDNIGHT (5) who continues to rack up the wins. SHARMA'S LAST (1) reached new heights last time in winning 4 on the bounce before pulling up with issues last run before the break. Has an outstanding first up record but no easy task with 59kg. SHY GUY (6) has been in great form in easier company and deserves a crack at this level. BLONDE STAR (8) a rock-solid return at Hobart and strips fitter as will ZULU ANGEL (7) who drops 7kg.

Staking Strategy: Earendel couldn't have been any more impressive 1st up, clearly a deeper race but should measure up. 1 unit to win EARENDEL (9).

R7 Art Hotel C2 Hcp, 1600m

Launnie Nights (6) led comfortably last week and looked to have the race within his keeping turning for home but was run down right on the line. There was a big gap to the third horse in that race so there was plenty of merit in the run. HENLEY EXTREME (3) won decisively at Hobart in class 1 grade over this distance and hard to beat again on the back of that effort. WILLINGLY (4) has done little this prep but is getting fitter and the step out to the 1600m might prompt some improvement. BOUNTY BAY (5) needs to lift albeit covered ground last outing. AL MAXIMUS (1) minor each-way claims fourth run in, a grinding run at Hobart and may be looking for further now than the 1600m. TASSIE POWER (2) won a moderate maiden and steps straight into a class 2 race, place chance at best.

Staking Strategy: Two standout chances. Launnie Nights led till the last bound last week in arguably a harder race and appeals at good odds. Henley Extreme romped home at Hobart and don't want to be losing on the race if she wins. 4 units to win HENLEY EXTREME (3) and LAUNNIE NIGHTS (6).

R8 Ladbrokes Big Bets Bm60 Hcp, 2100m

Skelmorlie (6) is deep into the preparation but keeps racing well. Rock-solid here 12-days ago behind Lovin Bev when 4-weeks fresh. A dominant winner the start prior over 2150m. EXALTED CROWN (4) brings the right recent form and should play a part in the finish. JUDGE JENNI (7) didn't fire last start at Hobart but both runs this venue have been very good and does look suited rising in trip, bred to stay all day. ZURICH (1) has won 2 races this time in and wasn't disgraced dropping back in trip last start in a harder race.

Staking Strategy: Not a lot between the top 3 in the betting. Exalted Crown is hard to catch but there's good form around him at his past couple. 1 unit to win EXALTED CROWN (4).
