ROSEHILL June 28

Best Bets

RACE 3 – (8) PUNTIN: Showed good potential in his first prep when he was well placed to win his first three starts from 1200m to 1600m, starting off with a country double before winning at Warwick Farm and ending the campaign with a game second in in a strong BM 78 at Randwick won by the talented Point And Shoot. Impressed first-up when beaten a nose over 1250m at Canterbury when he needed the run and is sure to be more comfortable over 1400m on this bigger track.

RACE 5 – (3) LIVIN' THING: Promising 3YO has made an impression since resuming with two strong wins in fast run 1000m events when he has been ridden with cover before sprinting hard to the line. With any number of leaders in this field to set a hot pace he'll get the set up he likes from a good draw with the O'Shea/Charlton stable again placing their faith in promising apprentice Jace McMurray after he rode the gelding so well last time at Randwick. McMurray's 3kg claim is the key as he drops 2.5kg off that win.

RACE 6 – (7) MICKEY'S MEDAL: Fans of horses for courses will be all over this in-form 4YO as he lines up to complete a treble and make it four wins from five starts over the 1500m course at Rosehill. No reason why he can't keep the roll going as he's risen through the classes with dominant performances and while this is a sterner test he'll be carrying 2kg less than his latest Rosehill win two weeks ago after top apprentice Braith Nock takes his claim. Nock has ridden the gelding four times for two wins and two placings, another positive for fans of the stats that matter.

Why They Can Win….

RACE 1: (10) HOW MUCH BETTER - Closed off in fast time when resuming. Can only improve off that effort.

RACE 2: (5) NEW PHAROAH - Had the toughest run last time. Placed to advantage with the claim for top apprentice.

RACE 4: (1) CAPTAIN AMELIA - Back to her own sex for the quick back up and drops in weight. Must run well.

RACE 7: (6) MORMONA - Ugly staying race. At least he's one with scope for improvement from his last start.

RACE 8: (15) MISTERKIPCHOGE - Has convictions but also easy to make excuses for him. Has everything in his favour this time.

RACE 9: (6) GLORY DAZE - The classy imports bear watching but he has the race fitness and a super record over this distance.

RACE 10: (10) LIBERTY STATE - Big finish to win first-up over this course. Expect she can go on with it as she's unbeaten second-up.

TRIAL POINTERS

WARWICK FARM June 10: The lightly raced KING OF DRAGONS is ready to rise through the classes after an impressive win in a strong open heat. Having his second trial since he won his maiden in January, this Harry Angel colt trucked through his 796m trial in the fastest of the short course heats (46.85; 33.73), never coming off the bit to win a heat that held plenty of depth. He's eligible for a C1 and looks better than that.
