SA mares & G1 winners headline sales
Yu Long Investments will be hoping for an immediate return with South Australian Derby winner Femminile after she was purchased for $1.5m at Tuesday’s Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on the Gold Coast.
Femminile will remain under the care of Phillip Stokes for Saturday's $1m Queensland Derby where she sits on the third line of betting as a $8.50 chance.
She was one of four $1m-plus lots sold boasting a South Australian connection.
Her stablemate, Group 1 Sangster Stakes winner Climbing Star was purchased for $2.1m by Tom Magnier, Vice-Chairman of Coolmore Stud.
Yu Long Invests also secured another South Australian with See You In Heaven making $1m for her connections.
The former Richard and Chantelle Jolly-trained mare won six of her 22 starts and recorded $830,070 during a brilliant racing career which started winning a Group 3 Ottawa Stakes at Flemington and captured wins in the Listed Dequetteville Stakes, Group 3 Breeders' Stakes, a Group 2 Sandown Guineas along with the Group 3 Behemoth Stakes on two occasions.
Will Clarken and Niki O'Shea's Blue Diamond placegetter Kuroyanagi was another to reach seven-figures making $1m and purchased by Dean Hawthorne Bloodstock.
Her stablemate, 2024 Group 3 Proud Miss Stakes winner Boognish was also sold for $240,000 purchased by Gilgai Farms in Nagambie.
In total 14 lots that sold for $1 million or more on the day.
"I thought it was an unbelievable day," Magic Millions Managing Director Barry Bowditch said.
