Regulated Affair to continue memorable season for Hermitage
Lady Shenandoah has been the headline horse in a good season for owners Hermitage Thoroughbreds.
The dark green and red chevroned silks of Hermitage Thoroughbreds have been featuring strongly this season, particularly through the feats of Coolmore Classic winner Lady Shenandoah.
Hermitage have had a strong industry presence for over a decade, celebrating success with the likes of The Autumn Sun, September Run and Egg Tart, all prepared by champion trainer Chris Waller.
They also have a stake in unbeaten filly Autumn Glow, although she races in the colours of Arrowfield Stud.
Waller trained another city winner for Hermitage on Wednesday in Zoustar filly Sister Daae, while on Saturday at Rosehill, Regulated Affair will represent them in the Chandon Handicap (1400m) after being scratched from the J J Atkins (1600m) at Eagle Farm due to a wide draw.
"They've had amazing success and we work well together," Waller said of Hermitage.
"They've got a great farm and Shannon Clarke, who runs it, does a great job and we complement each other.
"They give their horses time and that suits us. They trust us and it's working well."
By boom sire Wootton Bassett, Regulated Affair has raced three times, breaking his maiden at Warwick Farm in May and finishing fourth to the promising Agarwood at Randwick last time out.
He does have top weight of 58kg on Saturday but Waller hopes that will be offset by a 200m distance rise.
"He is a nice colt. He's got a bit of weight but I think 1400 metres will suit him," Waller said.
"They went very slow the other day and he can run well this weekend."
Waller will also have Crusader Voyage in the race, a colt out of multiple Group 1 winner Sea Siren making him a half-brother to triple Group 1-winning European mare Warm Heart.
"This horse is a brother to Warm Heart by Camelot so he is really bred to be something special and his first-up run was terrific," Waller said.
"He is drawn well so he will run on Saturday and then he will go for a holiday and get ready for the spring."
Waller will also have Speycaster in the feature Winter Cup (2400m) but says the horse needs to lift on his recent form.
