Everyone thought Arran Bay would turn the tables: "I thought the same, especially how close they were last time. He's a winner this horse and Arran Bay was game in defeat and I'm very happy to take the quinella again."
Arran Bay - every chance: "He had every chance. The winner has probably gone to another level. It's exciting, but where we go next, I'm not sure. A big thanks to Mark and the Regal mob, and the team here, they've done a really good job."
Only had the 23 starts: "We haven't always had him. He had a lot of time off. He had a tendon problem and a big thanks to Lee Evison, he did a lot of rehab work on this horse and got him back for us."
Where to now: "I'll have to have a think about that. We'll see what the ratings do, but we may have to think about Brisbane. Arran Bay, he's hard to place. He'll probably have a break and look to the spring. He's knocking on the door to win again."
Winning Jockey: Lachlan Neindorf
To win this race: "Very special and to do it for Regal and the team makes it even more special."
Thoughts when out the back: "It's where I wanted to be. I said to the boys let's just cop our medicine. He's a bit of a quirky horse. I shouldn't say, he can be a bit of a sook. He likes his own space, being left alone early, and I let him do that. We got on the back of Nonconformist, which I was happy with, let him do the work for us and bring him to the outside, which he enjoys. A bit of an ugly ride. Last start he had to hold his space a little bit, and didn't have the smooth, free flowing run, but when I asked him today he really hit his straps."
Really cut loose: "He did and still had that intention of wanting to lay in. He probably hit the front too soom. I wasn't expecting him to do that. Usually he hits a flat spot, but today he didn't miss a beat."
