2025 WA OAKS - RACE HISTORY AND BACKGROUND

The WA Oaks is a Group 3 race for three year old fillies conducted by Perth Racing (formerly the West Australian Turf Club) at Ascot.

The WA Oaks was first run in 1953 and was won by Copper Beach.

The WA Oaks is run over 2400m under Set Weights conditions.

It was a G1 until 1991 then became G2 but was further downgraded again in 2006 to G3.

It has changed distances and was below the mile and a half in the early years. It has also been run at Belmont before.

Owner Bob Peters has had an amazing run in the race winning it 11 times including 6 on the trot starting with a good one in Delicacy.

In 2025 the WA Oaks was worth $300,000.

Notable winners of the WA Oaks include Tuscan Queen (2020), Delicacy (2015), Dreamaway (2011), Grand Journey (2008), Royal Drive (2005), Old Money (2000), Matriculate (1998), Beaux Art (1994), Natasha (1990), Judyann (1987) and Send Me An Angel (1986).

The 2024 WA Oaks was won by Own The Queen from Miss Skyhigh and Flash Of Dallas.
