Winning Trainer: Symon Wilde (rep by Ben Casanelia)
"It has been a fantastic preparation and she has always probably had the ability but it has taken some time to get there and it has all come together for them.
"Even the run last week in the Lord Stakes had some merit. She never had a lot of luck and Jamie was kind to her in the end and Symon said we'll roll the dice a little bit backing her up and the glass half full coming into today was that she was probably as good as any of these.
"She had no weight and she was drawn well. She is in form and the negatives were probably the harder track and the back-up. You're never quite sure how mares will back up.
"She put it together and Harry rode her an absolute treat. Owners here are absolutely ecstatic."
On what has brought the best out of her this prep: "It takes time for these horses. They just keep improving.
"Persian Spirit is a classic example. If you've for the patience and you take it along slowly, she came back from a Warrnambool Cup run where she ran down the track and she is now holding her condition better and maintaining herself through a preparation, she has got better which perhaps a younger horse she couldn't do."
Winning Jockey: Harry Coffey
On the win: "We got a lovely run (but) I don't feel like she was at her best today.
"She might have been feeling that firm ground on the back-up, so it took a lot of urging to get her to win, but she may have been looking after herself.
"That's understandable, she's done a great job, she's been racing in true heart and this track's starting to get firm now and I don't know if that's right in her wheelhouse.
The path to victory: "They went quick early, took each other on, she got into a lovely rhythm, snuck up along the inside and then horses rolled off, I was able to get out and sort of only had to ask the supreme effort for 300 metres and that got the job done.
Was he ever worried?: "To be honest, I thought Verdad had us covered and I was thinking, 'she's going to run a nice place' and she was just sort of doing enough and I thought, 'I'll start using my left foot a little bit more' and see if she responds to that and she did.
"She was like, 'geez, I didn't know where you pulled that from'. So there was another trick to add to her and she just sort of got enough done.
"As I said, I don't think she was at her best and she showed a real will to win. She did a good job and it's nice for her to add a surfboard to her cabinet."
