Not that one was needed, but Magnus used last Saturday's Blue Diamond Day program to remind everyone of what an enduring stallion he was.

Almost 18 years after serving his first mare, the son of Flying Spur produced his maiden juvenile Group 1 winner when Streisand won the $2 million Blue Diamond.

But she was not his only Stakes winner for the day with Magnaspin taking out the Listed Victoria Cup, over 2000m no less.

Streisand became the fifth Group 1 winner for Magnus, who sadly died less than a month into the 2023 breeding season after covering just eight mares.

Six of those mares to failed to get in foal with the filly he produced in partnership with Just For Naara being the only one who has been verified by the Australian Studbook.

Streisand is one of 52 foals from his final crop of a full breeding season and joins Streets Of Avalon, Malaguerra, Magnifisio and Great Shot as his elite-level winners.

All up, Magnus has produced the winners of more than 2000 races and $100 million in stakes.

Fittingly, with the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale to be held in Melbourne from next Sunday, Streisand became the latest Group 1 graduate from that offering.

That was where her trainer, Clinton McDonald paid $100,000 for her, in partnership with Shane McGrath, out of the Northmore draft.

Streisand is out of the Zoustar mare Zouper Star, who was a 2-1/2-length winner of a 1200m Ararat maiden on debut but won just once – in a 1512m Class 1 at Geelong – in five subsequent starts for Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra before retiring to stud.

From the Kingdom Bay mare Simply The Best, Streisand is half-sister to Listed winner Best Yet To Come and from a family that has made a mark on Stakes grade across the Tasman.

Wanganui Guineas winner Super Shaquille is a half-brother to Simply The Best, while further down the page is Align mare Everswindell, who was a winner of the Group 2 New Zealand Cup at 3200m.
