Mollynickers set to pounce at Flemington
A drop back to mares' company is expected to suit Mollynickers at Flemington.
The Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman stable along with apprentice Luke Cartwright will attempt to keep their recent run of success going at Flemington.
The combination secured a winning treble at Sandown on May 24 and had a further victory at that track last Saturday and will look to parlay that success with Mollynickers in the Brian Beattie Handicap (1420m) on Saturday.
Mollynickers has been racing against the 'boys' in recent assignments and Coleman said the four-year-old would appreciate racing against her own sex on Saturday.
"Her last couple of runs have been super," Coleman said.
"She's going to the race in good order. It's a good race on form, but she was up against the boys last start and ran well.
"I think if she gets a little bit of luck in running from a slightly awkward draw, it might be chance to pick another one up."
Mollynickers paid the penalty for Stakes race placings as a three-year-old which included third place finishes in The Vanity and Kewney Stakes, both at Flemington.
The Moody and Coleman stable chased further Black Type last spring, with a best performance coming in the Group 2 Tristarc Stakes when finishing in fourth place.
A summer campaign followed, and Mollynickers eventually found her way back in the winner's enclosure, taking out a benchmark 84 contest at Geelong in January before a brief break.
Coleman has been encouraged by Mollynickers last two performances, finishing second at Caulfield on May 3 and again at Sandown last time out.
"She was honest and brave, so you can't be too disheartened by that," Coleman said.
"But she's at that mark in her races now where she needs everything to fall her way."
Mollyknickers will carry 55kg after Cartwright's claim on Saturday.
