McDonald giving tried horses a fresh start
Based in Mildura, Raharna McDonald clocks the kilometres in her dedication to getting her horses onto tracks. Consistently making the drive to race courses across SA each week, including the 5-hour drive to Penola on Sunday for a single runner, and notably the 4-hour and 15-minute drive to Balaklava yesterday with three.
Raharna Mcdonald has taken on tried SA horses and elongated their career, including the former Richards & Moyle-trained Sabermetric, who won by a narrow margin in Race 5 at Balaklava yesterday (pictured).Among McDonald's stable is the once Kennewell & Yeomans, more recently Stephen Theodore-trained Limbering, and Astromancer from the Kent & Francis yard, who has run back-to-back second placings since winning at Bordertown in early May.
Some may remember Tiny Rebel's two-month stint in Shayne Cahill's stable in 2021, stepping out three times for a 2nd placing, changing stable one more time before ending up under McDonald's name, and becoming her first career win in 2023.
