RACE 1
Ilovethistown (2) was well fancied fresh and sat second throughout, boxing on well to finish there. Fitter and off the low draw looks the one to beat in this line-up. Alpine Whiskey (1) raced just off the lead on debut and wasn't far away when finishing fifth. Fitter for it and has a low draw. Doesn't have to improve much to feature in the finish. Tribal Council (4) showed ability in a four start first campaign and looks well placed here fresh. Has the claim and inside draw so should be stalking the lead and finishing on hard. Royal Scene (6) rates highly on best but has mixed form lately. Beaten just over a length two back and if she runs to that would be in the finish here. Genuine Lady (5) was close to a win before a break and can wind up into the finish here fresh. Very wary of first starter RUSHONOVA (7). Check the market.
Suggested Bet: Stay with Ilovethistown.
RACE 2
Hard to go past Daytona Diva (1) who ran on hard to score last time as a heavily bet favourite. Has since proven a good form race. Up in the weights but yet to miss the frame in five runs and still has upside. Follow up. Goddess Of Rock (4) resumed from a break with a fast finishing third over 1400m at Hobart. Looks suited here and extra trip is a plus. Definite danger. I'm Chev (3) on the other hand is the pace influence in the race and will push forward. Won at Longford last time and although this tougher small field suits and will take catching. Steele My Sunshine (5) has been freshened since disappointing last time. Course and distance winner with the senior rider going on and worth another try. Speed Rock (6) has always struggled to run this trip but the small field suits and could sneak into the minors.
Suggested Bet: With Daytona Diva.
RACE 3
Billie The Great (10) is worth following up here. Ran on hard to score last time in what has since proven a very strong form race. Attractively weighted with the claim and that was first run in eight months so can only be fitter. Can measure up again. Lady Galadriel (2) has been thereabouts without winning, the latest when fifth here over 1100m. Has two wins and two minors from four starts this course and distance and gets chance to atone. Star Walkin' (5) has been freshened since a fair run last time. Down in the weights and can do much better. Alpine Fury (1) is a last start winner who led throughout to score. Has a low draw and will take catching again. Hartman (3) was run down late last time over further. Ready to win and can give a sight.
Suggested Bet: Backing Billie The Great.
RACE 4
Jenni The Cat (6) was scratched at the barrier in early December then finally got going just after Christmas and was a dominant winner storming home to score. Up in trip but has big upside and expected to go close again. Beneficiary (1) was strongly fancied at debut and gave nothing else a chance, leading throughout to score by a space. Looks promising and can go close again. Bunker Jako (3) wasn't far away two back then could manage only midfield and well held last time. Much better than that and worth another chance. Amahlosi (4) was only a couple of lengths away in sixth last time and has a nice weight drop with the claim. Can give a big sight off the low draw. Thankgoditsfriday (10) ran 10th at big odds but was only 2.5 lengths from the winner at Hobart latest in what has proven a hot form race. Can run well at odds.
Suggested Bet: Siding with Jenni The Cat.
RACE 5
Tough race where most of the form is intertwined and includes five last start winners. Snow Eagle (5) isn't one of them but looks ready to win after three runs back. Tackled 1800m last time in open class and finished fourth. Extra trip is a plus and has the claim and inside draw. Expected to fire. Johnnie Pinch (1) was a BM68 winner last time over a mile after a string of solid runs over shorter trips. Has placed 3/4 this course and distance though and gets back out in journey now in winning form. Can measure up. Captain Morgan (4) was a big winner over 2400m at Longford, scoring by four lengths. Tougher here but will be strong over the journey and can measure up again. Judge Jenni (7) got home hard to score a narrow win over 1650m on the synthetic at Devonport. Placed only try this trip and heading the right way. Zurich (3) was a course and distance winner a few starts over where he beat a few of these including Judge Jenni. Second behind Captain Morgan latest and has claims again.
Suggested Bet: Snow Eagle gets her chance.
RACE 6
Disappointing turn-out for the Launceston Guineas with just six runners. Crack The Shutters (1) is the benchmark. Has four wins and four minors from eight starts and building a great record here including three wins. Raced just off the lead in the Tasmanian Guineas and fought on well for second but no match for the smart Mazzini. Looks suited by the extra ground now and will box seat from the rails. Goes close again. Dad And Dave (4) is a Victorian from the Maher yard thrown into the deep end off a maiden win last time. Was most impressive though, scoring by a space over 1856m at Kyneton and has big upside so should relish the extra ground. Expected to measure up. Caelius (2) is also a Victorian who has had one Tassie start when sixth in the Tassie Guineas. Was a month between runs and expected to appreciate the extra journey now. Wolf Junior (3) is a progressive type who was fourth in the Tassie Guineas and extra trip looks a plus. Rousing Levi (5) is a maiden but will run the trip.
Suggested Bet: Keen on Crack The Shutters.
RACE 7 - RACING AND SPORTS BEST BET
Bloomtime (5) turned in a strong run fresh when hit the line hard for fourth, beaten just over a length. That was off a long break and will strip far fitter. Extra trip is a plus and expected to go close this time. Agnete (6) has been ticking along well, the latest when runner-up on the synthetic at Devonport. Course and distance winner and overdue for a win. Gee Gee Can Win (7) placed fresh then hit the line hard for fourth at Longford. Attractively weighted here and should be ready to hit peak form. Captain Cam (3) dropped back to 1200m last time and was only a couple of lengths away. Has three wins this trip and goes well at this circuit. One of the chances on best figures. Stardarmus (4) wasn't too far off the mark last time. Ready to win and placed only try course and distance.
Suggested Bet: Bloomtime to win.
RACE 8
Looks a great race for Eastcoast Miss (1). Resumed from a seven-month break in a BM68 and finished on hard for third. Fitter for it and comes back a notch. Expected to go close. Get 'Em Warrior (3) ran fourth at his latest appearance over 1150m at Devonport Synthetic, clocking in 6 lengths from the winner. Just missed in a similar race to this two back. Worth another chance. Warica (2) found it too sharp when fourth in an 800m contest at Longford two weeks ago. Has a good course and distance record and can improve sharply. Araya Sunshine (6) progressed nicely last time out to finish just a nose from the winner in second over 1400m at Longford. Back in trip but will be winding up late. Nazorian (5) is on the quick backup. Not far from the winner last time and among the chances on best.
Suggested Bet: Follow up on Eastcoast Miss.
