Ladbrokes Blog: Warwick Farm Preview – 10th January 2024
Seven races are scheduled to be run and won at Warwick Farm this Wednesday.
For more racing and sports previews, visit the Ladbrokes Blog.
With showers from earlier in the week cleared, we should be racing on a good surface with the rail in the true position.
For our best bets in each race, continue reading below!
RACE 1 - 2:20PM: Maiden Handicap (1400m)
La Freccia (9) should be ready to produce a peak performance third-up.
The John O'Shea-trained Shooting To Win filly was in need of the run first-up when finishing 4.8 lengths third over 1200m on the Beaumont track.
She improved second-up when leading over 1400m at Kembla Grange before being run down late when the jockey dropped the whip to finish second to Restonica by 1.3 lengths.
Nash Rawiller takes the ride and should settle in a forward position.
BET NOW: Warwick Farm Race 1
RACE 2 - 2:55PM: Maiden Handicap (1400m)
Magic Shadow (2) impressed when debuting over 1200m on the Beaumont track last start.
The Maher and Eustace-trained three-year-old gelding couldn't go with his rivals early but let down powerfully to finish a nose second.
He will strip fitter second-up and the rise to 1400m looks ideal.
There doesn't look to be a great deal of speed which should see Louise Day settle closer in the run from barrier 3.
BET NOW: Warwick Farm Race 2
RACE 3 - 3:30PM: Benchmark 72 Handicap (1400m)
Hell Hath No Fury (4) was unlucky not to win second-up over this distance at Randwick.
The Annabelle Neasham-trained Hellbent mare was held up in the straight and didn't get clear until late but when she did, she let down strongly to finish second by a neck.
She'll strip fitter third-up and gets the services of Jason Collett.
A genuine tempo will be to her liking.

BET NOW: Warwick Farm Race 3
RACE 4 - 4:05PM: Benchmark 72 Handicap (1000m)
Border Control (2) has been racing in great form this preparation.
The Adam Duggan-trained Brazen Beau gelding won in strong fashion by 1.5 lengths at Gosford first-up before returning to that track second-up where he finished second.
Two starts ago he gave a massive sight over 1100m at Canterbury but was nailed on the line to finish a nose second.
He accounted for himself well on Boxing Day when fighting on strongly for a 1.14 length fourth over 1000m at Randwick.
His form suggests he's mighty close to a win and from the inside gate he'll enjoy a beautiful run.
BET NOW: Warwick Farm Race 4
RACE 5 - 4:40PM: Benchmark 72 Handicap (1600m)
Age Of Sail (2) is an import having his first start for Kris Lees.
The son of Frankel arrived in Australia in good form, having won his two previous starts by decent margins.
He's warmed up for this first-up assignment with two trials with the most recent proving to be a nice piece of work where he found the line strongly.
Nash Rawiller is a key booking and should be able to settle in a prominent position.
BET NOW: Warwick Farm Race 5
RACE 6 - 5:15PM: Benchmark 72 Handicap (1400m)
Atlantic Ocean (6) can continue his solid run of form and looks excellent each way value.
The Chris Waller-trained gelding ran through the line strongly when winning over this course and distance two starts back.
Last start he ran on strongly at Randwick for third but was no match for Monfelicity who franked the form by finishing a close second on Saturday.
Kerrin McEvoy takes the ride and should afford his mount every chance from barrier 3.
1 Unit Each Way – Atlantic Ocean (6)
BET NOW: Warwick Farm Race 6
RACE 7 - 5:50PM: Benchmark 72 Handicap (1200m)
Jambalaya (10) ventures north after starting his career in Melbourne.
The Godolphin-owned son of Shooting To Win created an impression when bolting in on debut at The Valley over 1200m.
He went too hard in front last start at Caulfield in a stronger race than this and was found wanting late to finish 2.2 lengths fourth.
Trainer James Cummings has sent him back to the trials where he turned in a pleasing performance, charging through the line.
He'll strip fitter third-up and should prove hard to run down.
