The track is still in the Soft 5 range with the rail out 9m across the track, and our best bet comes up in Race 5 with a smart mare out of the Robert Heathcote yard going around at short odds.

There's each-way value to be found in Race 6, but to save you doing the form, we've done all the hard work for you in our Doomben race-by-race preview!

Race 1 - 12:33pm: BECOME A BRC MEMBER QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate (1200 METRES)

CARAMELFUDGESUNDAE (13) is a key chance as the first emergency.

She ran on strongly to just miss out on a place on debut on the Sunny Coast last month, shifting out from the fence at the 300m mark to find clear air down the outside.

By Zousain, she should love the 1200m trip after closing the gap nicely in much wetter conditions.

Race 2 - 1:08pm: TATTERSALLS TIARA RACEDAY 28 JUNE Maiden Plate (1200 METRES)

LUCIFER'S WAY (4) was backed off the map on debut on hte Sunshine Coast last month, sticking to the task all the way to finish a narrow second to Absinthe Cat in similar conditions.

He comes here off a handy three-week break and looks to have found a slightly easier race on an improving track from the inside gate.

Ryan Maloney takes over in red-hot form and the pair should be up close to the speed again over further.

Race 3 - 1:43pm: TATTERSALLS TIARA RACEDAY 28 JUNE Maiden Plate (1200 METRES)

WILLIAMTHECONQUEROR (7) kept finding to run second on the Sunshine Coast earlier in the year on debut.

Brian Smith's colt settled up on the speed and found clear running down the outside, beaten only a length by Livalittle, who has since gone on to run third in a tougher race here at Doomben.

His recent trial effort was sharp and he's another one that should relish soft conditions from a low draw.

Race 4 - 2:18pm: XXXX GOLD QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 68 Handicap (1350 METRES)

PROMINENT LAD (6) goes around second-up for David Vandyke off a likable run over 1200m a couple of weeks ago.

The three-year-old to Better Than Ready ran on well without threatening from the tail of the field, an effort that suggested he might be wanting longer with fitness on his side.

He won well over 1200m to shed the maiden tag at Eagle Farm last September and was competitive out to the mile on the Sunny Coast later in the spring. Proven with some sting out of the track, this looks the right race.

Race 5 - 2:53pm: MULLINS LAWYERS BENCHMARK 68 Handicap (2060 METRES)

JEALOUS (4) has been working up nicely to another win for Robert Heathcote.

The daughter to Nicconi faced a sharp rise in trip out to the mile in her third-up run a few weeks ago, sticking on fairly from a wide barrier where the firm track and the tempo never really suited her.

She goes around here with a couple of impressive runs over 2000m in Sydney o her name and again gets the services of Craig Williams aboard. With the right amount of luck from the gate, she should be one of the hardest to beat.

Race 6 - 3:28pm: WORLD POOL AT EAGLE FARM ON SATURDAY BENCHMARK 75 Handicap (1650 METRES)

MISS CHENERY (11) feels close to a win for Chris Waller and connections.

She's been around the mark in recent efforts here over the mile, overcoming a slow start two back at Eagle Farm before making up late ground on her way to running third.

By Justify, she was a little slow in the run home here a few weeks ago, but is likely to appreciate a softer track this time with Damien Thornton taking over from the inside gate.

If she jumps on time and doesn't give away too big of a start, she could be dangerous at good odds.

Race 7 - 4:03pm: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 85 Handicap (1350 METRES)

Happy to stick with the favourite TUFF TU MUS (7) back from a break for David Vandyke.

The lightly-raced four-year-old boasts an imposing record of four wins from six starts, in which he added to at Egle Farm in late April when he got up to win narrowly with a diving effort right on the line over 1200m.

He's come out and won a recent trial at Deagon on a bottomless track quite well between starts and has typically handed in some strong performances fresh.

Race 8 - 4:34pm: LADBROKES MATES MODE POTS Class 1 Handicap (1350 METRES)

NOBLE DECREE (4) looks like a horse ready to peak third-up under Craig Williams.

Another one out of the Vandyke yard, the son of Per Incanto has mixed his form this time in work, winning well fresh at Ipswich, before going on to run second on the Sunshine Coast a few weeks ago where a bit went wrong in the run home.

He's drawn to get forward in the run here from the soft gate and is likely to appreciate some sting out of the track.
