Ladbrokes Blog: 2025 San Domenico Stakes Day Preview
The three-year-olds take centre stage at Rosehill Gardens on 2025 San Domenico Stakes Day!
For more racing and sports previews, visit the Ladbrokes Blog.
The San Domenico Stakes field features several exciting Spring Carnival prospects including Wodeton, Raging Force and Devil Night, but the Up And Coming Stakes field is certainly not devoid of standouts from the same age group.
You can find my tips for those two races and the remainder of my Rosehill best bets below!

Race 1 - Midway Handicap (1800m)
No. 7 Wild Thoughts
WILD THOUGHTS has returned to the races in slick form.
Having filled the minors on debut at Kembla Grange back in January, Wild Thoughts was immediately tipped out and returned to action to finish second behind the talented and impressive Cold Brew.
He broke his maiden comfortably over 1500m late last month and franked that performance by winning again on the heavy going, this time in Class 1 company last time out.
This is harder, but he's open to further improvement and it doesn't appear beyond him either.
Bet Now: Rosehill Race 1
Race 2 - Highway Handicap (1400m)
No. 3 Solitario
SOLITARIO looks well placed in this week's Highway race.
The Pariah gelding hasn't missed placing in five trips to the races since debuting, winning each of his first two back this time before filling the minors in a couple of BM66 races at Scone and Tamworth most notably.
This is easily the toughest task he's been set, but he steps out in peak order and the booking of James McDonald certainly doesn't hurt his chances either.
Bet Now: Rosehill Race 2
Race 3 - Bankstown Sports Handicap (1500m)
No. 7 Amreekiyah
AMREEKIYAH can bounce back third up on San Domenico Stakes Day.
She was unbeaten in two starts during her debut prep, and Amreekiyah picked up where she left off with an eye-catching performance in BM64 company at Canterbury when resuming last month.
Having suffered her first defeat when beaten a little over two lengths over 1400m here at Rosehill last time out, she's open to further improvement, while getting further out in trip this week also looks beneficial at this point of her preparation.
Bet Now: Rosehill Race 3
Race 4 - Campbelltown Catholic Club Handicap (1500m)
No. 4 Captain Furai
I'm going to give CAPTAIN FURAI another chance third-up from a lengthy break.
He was excellent during his debut preparation last year, and Captain Furai turned in a competitive performance to finish the runner up behind Elson Boy here when resuming.
He looked to be suffering from a little second up syndrome when six lengths behind the winner second-up, but he has been a horse that has tended to improve a little further into his preparations.
James McDonald sticks and the horse has drawn ideally.
Bet Now: Rosehill Race 4
Race 5 - Wests Group Macarthur Derby Handicap (2000m)
No. 3 Amusing
AMUSING is chasing a fourth win in succession this week.
Having returned to winning form over 1500m here in her final start for James Cummings last month, the Masar mare has been excellent in each of her first two under the care of Chris Waller.
She's hard fit and I can't find a reason why she won't be in the finish again.
Bet Now: Rosehill Race 5
Race 6 - Group 3 Up And Coming Stakes (1300m)
No. 3 Grand Prairie
This looms as a fantastic edition of the Up And Coming Stakes and what the field lacks in size, it certainly makes up for in quality.
With a case to be made for all of them, GRAND PRAIRIE is one that I thought represented value in San Domenico Stakes betting ($6 at publish).
By Written Tycoon and out of the multiple Group 1-winning mare, Viddora, Grand Prairie broke his maiden fresh from a break and has finished the runner up at two subsequent starts, including the Listed Rosebud here a fortnight ago.
With a fitness edge over several key rivals, I think this looks an ideal black type race for him.
Bet Now: Rosehill Race 6
Race 7 - Merrylands RSL Club Handicap (1100m)
No. 6 Polyglot
POLYGLOT is open to improve second up from a spell.
The Lonhro gelding has raced consistently through eight trips to the races so far and made his first start for Michael Freedman here a fortnight ago, working home to finish a head behind winner Mal Coupe.
He's yet to miss placing at this point of his preparation, and he is my best bet on the program.
Bet Now: Rosehill Race 7
Race 8 - Group 3 San Domenico Stakes (1100m)
No. 5 Wodeton
Another excellent field of three-year-olds has been taken for the San Domenico Stakes, including WODETON.
We haven't seen the valuable son of Wootton Bassett since April, but he certainly stamped himself as a horse to following during his two-year-old season and finished an agonizingly close second in the Golden Slipper most notably.
He's had the benefit of a couple of trials ahead of his return in the San Domenico Stakes field, and he's another boosted by the booking of James McDonald.
Bet Now: Rosehill Race 8
Race 9 - Mounties Group Handicap (1500m)
No. 4 Estadio Mestalla
ESTADIO MESTALLA looks well placed in the penultimate on San Domenico Stakes Day, in my opinion.
The son of Galileo Gold has continued to turn in competitive performances this time in, winning the Listed Winter Stakes over 1400m here last month, while he has filled the minors at each of his two latest starts.
He's in peak order and is drawn ideally this week, while races of this quality are certainly right in his wheelhouse.
Bet Now: Rosehill Race 9
Race 10 - ClubsNSW Handicap (1200m)
No. 10 Perfumist
I'm keen to stick with PERFUMIST second up in the last at Rosehill on Saturday.
Perfumist returned to action in career-best form in the autumn this year, earning a ticket to New Zealand to contest the inaugural The Kiwi, for which she finished a credible fifth.
She clearly needed her first run back when sixth, beaten three lengths here when resuming, but I'm expecting plenty of improvement into this suitable contest.
