Ladbrokes Blog: 2025 Farnley Stakes Day Preview

Black-type racing returns to Belmont this Saturday with the Listed Farnley Stakes making up part of the eight-race program in Perth. Worth $125,000, the 1400m feature has attracted some top-tier talent across Western Australia, and it might be worth diving into some wet-track form with a few showers about.

Our Best of the Day goes around in Race 4 with a talented stayer chasing her hat-trick, while Immortal Bliss looks just as hard to beat in Race 3.

Race 1 – MCA POLYTRACK PLATE (1400 METRES)
No. 1 Rock Fest
Race time:  9:44 am, 6 Sept

ROCK FEST (1) goes around here on a quick 10-day turnaround having won last Wednesday on debut by well over 5.5 lengths.

The horse he beat, I'm Genevieve, won on debut herself by a clear margin the run prior, so the form suggests that was no fluke.

Rain on Friday and Saturday should have us racing on a soft track again, and from barrier 4, Clint Johnston-Porter looks the man for the job dropping 2kg in the saddle.

Race 2 – WESTSPEED PLATINUM HANDICAP – SPRING SERIES HEAT 2 (1300 METRES)
No. 1 On Patrol
Race time:  10:19 am, 6 Sept

ON PATROL (1) looks worthy of another win based on recent form.

The five-year-old out of War Chant flashed home late over the track and distance down the outside two back, running on late for second to finish within a length of Diamond Dancer.

She was too far back off the wide gate last week to really threaten, but I still thought she made up good ground to finish third over 100m further.

Another wet track suits and the slight drop back in distance on the short backup is noteworthy.

Race 3 – MORLEY GROWERS MARKET HANDICAP (1000 METRES)
No. 3 Immortal Bliss
Race time:  10:54 am, 6 Sept

Happy to stick with IMMORTAL BLISS (3), who goes around in search of his hat-trick for Grant and Alana Williams.

Willy Pike has taken this lightly-raced four-year-old to another level this prep, steering him to a comfortable win at Northam first-up, and then overcoming a four-wide sit here over the track and trip a few weeks ago to finish half a length clear.

Watching the replay, the pair made up a stack of ground from the tail of the field last start, and there looked to be plenty left in the tank through the line.

Providing he's not wanting further, this son of I Am Immortal appears to be one of the better bets on the program.

  Bet Now: Belmont Race 3

Race 4 – QUAYCLEAN HANDICAP (2200 METRES)
No. 6 Ilgiro Delmondo
Race time:  11:29 am, 6 Sept

ILGIRO DELMONDO (6) is the obvious choice here in a fairly thin race.

Justine Erkelens's mare is another one with her sights set on a hat-trick after securing an arrow victory last week over the track and trip at the mid-week's.

She's become a serious wet-track specialist this prep and appeared to have another gear to go after stalking the speed and unleashing a burst of speed last week to go clear.

In well at the weights again with options afforded from barrier 6, she looks very hard to beat.

  Bet Now: Belmont Race 4

Race 5 – GLENROY CHAFF HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
No. 8 Deferred
Race time:  12:09 pm, 6 Sept

DEFERRED (8) looks ready to peak here third-up.

The daughter to Epaulette improved sharply last Saturday to just miss out on a place over the track and trip, slotting in around midfield behind the speed, and then running on well to grab fourth to finish within a length of Scully.

She ran a nice race for third on a 10-day turnaround at this stage of her prep last time in work, and with a little bit less weight to carry this time, she should have plenty left for the finish.

  Bet Now: Belmont Race 5

Race 6 – WA RACEHORSE OWNERS' ASSOCIATION HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
No. 3 Be Bardot
Race time:  12:45 pm, 6 Sept

Giving the edge to William Pike, who saddles BE BARDOT (3) in a very open race.

The pair combined to win over the mile at Ascot back in April before the sharp rise up to 1800m where they were unlucky not to run a place.

Her recent trial win at Lark Hill was encouraging and she does have that maiden first-up win over the track/distance to her name around this same time last year.

  Bet Now: Belmont Race 6

Race 7 – SWAN DRAUGHT – FARNLEY STAKES (1400 METRES)
No. 3 Fleuro Neuro
Race time:  1:19 pm, 6 Sept

I was with FLEURO NEURO (3) two weeks ago in the Idyllic Prince and I'm not about to hop off.

He was enormous late for second, storming the line down the outside to finish 2.5 lengths off Phanta over 100m shorter.

Conditions look like they'll suit again and you have to respect the booking of Pike this time around. With a couple of wins over 1400m to his name, he looks ready to win now third-up.

  Bet Now: Belmont Race 7

Race 8 – PERTH RACING NOW HIRING CASUAL STAFF HANDICAP (1600 METRES)
No. 13 Twilight Tale
Race time:  1:55 pm, 6 Sept

Keen to see what TWILIGHT TALE (13) can produce here second-up.

The Savabeel mare was probably too far back over 1400m a fortnight ago when beaten 3.4 lengths, but she did respond nicely when the pace quickened to finish strongly through the line.

The wide gate makes this tricky for Clint Johnston-Porter, and although this is maybe a tougher assignment, her win over the mile at Ascot back in February does stand out on the resume.
