Ka Ying Rising keeps getting better, according to Hayes

Hall of Fame trainer David Hayes has made the remarkable admission Hong Kong’s superstar sprinter Ka Ying Rising hasn’t reached the peak of his powers.

"Ka Ying Rising's an all-time great and he's getting better!'' Hayes told Racing And Sports.

The champion sprinter's regular jockey, Zac Purton, said: "I never tire of riding him – Wow!".

Hayes and Purton made these comments after Ka Ying Rising scored a Hong Kong record 18th successive win in the Group 1 Silver Jubilee Cup (1400m) at Sha Tin last Sunday.

Ka Ying Rising  returned a loftyTimeform rating of 134 in his record-breaking win.

This equalled the champion sprinter's career-best Timeform figure he first achieved in the Hong Kong International Sprint back in December.

Ka Ying Rising's sequence of wins is prompting inevitable comparisons with Australia's mighty mares Winx and Black Caviar, who also had famous winning streaks.

Winx won her final 33 races, including a world record 25 Group 1 wins. Black Caviar won all her 25 races with 15 at Group 1 level.

Ka Ying Rising's peak Timeform rating ranks him on a par with Winx but still trails Black Caviar.

Black Caviar achieved highest Timeform rating when she ran to a 136 figure winning the 2012 Lightning Stakes by nearly two lengths from Hay List, dashing over the Flemington 1000m in a stunning 55.53s including a scarcely believable 31.82s her final 600m sectional.

The mighty mare's peak rating equalled the historical Timeform figures given the three great Australian sprinters, Todman, Vain and Manikato.

It won't surprise anyone that the mighty quartet of Black Caviar, Todman, Vain and Manikato are all members of the elite Australian Racing Hall of Fame.

Black Caviar's Timeform figure also makes her the equal highest rating mare of all-time alongside French champ Allez France and English sprinter Habibti.

Winx achieved her 134 peak rating twice – in the 2017 George Ryder Stakes when she accelerated clear to beat Le Romain and Chautauqua by more than seven lengths, and the 2018 Queen Elizabeth Stakes when she easily defeated Gailo Chop.

Ka Ying Rising is a rising six-year-old but has still only had 21 starts, winning 19 and if Hayes is right, perhaps the best of the horse is still ahead of him.
