ITV Insights - 7th March 2026

The team are back to preview all the action from ITV on Saturday.

European Breeders' Fund Betfair "National Hunt" Novices' Handicap Hurdle Final – Class 1 - 1.50 Sandown

Olly Murphy's progressive Scorpio Rising holds obvious claims as he bids to land the four-timer, but the unexposed Kaka's Cousin is equally as appealing. His recent Catterick success couldn't have been much more impressive and the form of it took a boost when the runner-up, Kocktail Bleu, who was eight and a half lengths behind that day, went on to chase home Klub De Reve in the Grade 2 Dovecote Novices' Hurdle. He has winning form on better ground as well and should have more to offer in handicap company.

Kaka's Cousin

Make The Move To Midnite Handicap – Class 3 – Wolverhampton – 2.05

Despite not being ideally positioned throughout at Kempton, Kullazain still ran right up to form recently. He returns to the scene where he scored over course and distance two starts ago and arrives racing off the same mark as when third last time out. James Tate's charge should have things run to suit from stall two and under an in-form Luke Morris, his claims are there for all to see.

Kullazain

Betfair Imperial Cup Handicap Hurdle – Class 2 – Sandown – 2.27

Afadil might not be chucked in at the weights but he's generally reliable on decent ground and is priced fairly from an each-way angle. Paul Nicholls has won two of the six renewals of this contest and Afadil, who was third in this contest twelve months ago off a mark of 122, heads back to Sandown following a good second at Musselburgh off 2lb lower. Freddie Keighley knows him well and he should be in with a shout of finding the frame.

Afadil

BetMGM Lincoln Trial Handicap – Class 2 – Wolverhampton – 2.42

La Botte could be set for a big season, but Harry Eustace has made it no secret that he's using this a prep-run, while stall ten also will not do him any favours. First Principle remains very much unexposed and could be the one to side with. William Haggas' charge was a good second to the reopposing Two Tempting at Kempton in November and might still have more to offer back from a break.

First Principle

British Stallion Studs EBF Mares' Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race – Listed – Sandown – 3.00

The Flaggy Shore remains a high-class prospect for Ben Clarke despite being beaten in this class at Market Rasen last time. She fared much best of those that raced prominently on that occasion and having been keen enough in the early stages, it was pleasing to see her knuckle down and battle on once she was headed in the straight. The manner in which she quickened up to score at Warwick on her previous start was impressive and she should still have more to offer in this sphere before making a useful hurdler next season.

The Flaggy Shore

BetMGM Lady Wulfruna Stakes – Listed – Wolverhampton – 3.15

The 108-rated Cool Hoof Luke could easily be too smart for these, but the dreaded 'bounce' factor has to be a slight concern after his pleasing reappearance following 526 days off. Ferrous looks the best alternative having finished one spot behind him in the Listed Kachy Stakes before going down by a neck to an unexposed one of Clive Cox's over the same course and distance. He's five from ten on the all-weather and whilst he does have winning form at Lingfield, the return to a slightly more galloping track like Wolverhampton ought to be right up his street.

Ferrous

Best Odds On The Betfair Exchange Handicap Chase - (Class 3) – Sandown – 3.30

There should be more to come from Calimystic over fences after his narrow chasing debut win at Newbury but at the prices, Tune In A Box has to be preferred. A four-time winner over hurdles, he showed little on his first three starts over fences but there was definitely more encouragement when third at Newbury on testing ground last time. He should relish getting back onto this better surface and looks too well-treated on his hurdles form to ignore.

Tune In A Box
