Hidden Motive resumes while Private Harry and Shiki are set to barrier trial
Shiki's Golden Slipper bid could be determined by a barrier trial next week while Group 1 winner Private Harry will miss the Sydney autumn to be aimed at the Brisbane carnival.
Kurrinda Bloodstock's Sean Driver provided Racing And Sports with an update on Shiki and Private Harry ahead of another of the syndicator's talented sprinters, promising three-year-old Hidden Motive's return to racing in the Listed $200,000 Fireball Stakes (1100m) at Royal Randwick on Saturday.
"We were disappointed with Shiki's run,'' Driver said.
"I thought going into the Silver Slipper, the filly looked great, the best she has all season, so we were pretty flat after that race.
"The plan is to barrier trial her next week (Rosehill, March 10) and see how she goes.
"What she has got is brilliant acceleration and we believe if she is at her best she can run very competitively in the Golden Slipper.''
But the brilliant sprinter missed The Everest last spring after he was beaten out of a place in The Shorts and Premiere Stakes, then was found to have some bone bruising in a knee.
Private Harry has subsequently been transferred to the Chris Waller stable and is back in full training.
"Private Harry is due to have his first barrier trial on March 30,'' Driver revealed.
"He will have two barrier trials then go to Brisbane where he will run in the Victory Stakes first-up before going to the Doomben 10,000.''
Hidden Motive showed his quality last spring winning the Group 2 Roman Consul Stakes from Beadman and Marhoona before he failed in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes.
Doyle has given Hidden Motive two barrier trials in recent weeks including an impressive win at Rosehill late last month.

"Nathan is very happy with Hidden Motive, it is the best we have had him going into a first-up run,'' Driver said.
"We still feel he will improve but he can run a bold race on Saturday.''
