Who's call to backup?: "Well, I better give the credit to Troy because I was actually on holidays.

"He said he'd just come through the run really well. He kind of really presented last week like he was going to be the winner on the turn but just wanted to do a few things wrong in the straight, but then really knuckled down late.

"The 1400 was always going to be a big tick, he just needed to handle that backup."

On getting back to 1400m: "We probably wanted to get there after two starts back, but when you're running for rich VOBIS money like he was in last week, and they're only restricted to those kind of horses, it's hard not to go for that prize money.

"We actually were thinking about skipping last week and just coming straight here, but we had a crack, he ran well, pulled up well, so go again."

What's next: "We'll just assess what his rating goes to, I think he's an 80 at the moment, so it'll creep up a bit.

"There's plenty of benchmark racing this time of year that he can keep going through his grades without putting it too much in front of him.

"You would have seen early in the race, he was still doing a lot wrong, so we've got to iron out a few things first."

Winning Jockey: Jamie Melham

On his similarities to some stablemates: "I said to the team, 'I think your whole stable are full of these sort of horses'; him, Zou Sensation, they're not easy rides, but when they get the job done like that, I'm happy to be part of it.

On today's assignment: "He ran really well last start. It was a tricky day with horses, putting a lot of tempo into the race at Cranbourne and he still couldn't chase him down.

"They gave me no instructions, but I said, I think we might just give him a squeeze today and go forward just the way the track's playing.

"It's firm and you can't make a lot of ground, so I was happy to be there.

"I had to get him to squeeze, though, as you could see and his head come up and it wasn't pretty for a good five, 600 metres, but he was still tough and he got headed, or almost got headed in the straight, and he actually enjoyed it, he kicked again.

"He's a tough horse and the team's done a very good job with him."
