Cranbourne: Race 4; #5 Jareth
Jareth only started getting warm over further than 1600m and deeper into his preparation over the Winter months. Maybe spelling with Maher and returning first-up over 1600m is some signs of intent but the map looks hellish too and from that gate I think he will need to produce a sprint that he simply doesn't have to be able to win. Very surprised he is favourite.
GREYHOUNDS
Geelong: Race 8; #8 Paw Phelps
Paw Phelps' best form has come from inside draws. There is plenty of early pace and pressure here and he could find them too zippy in the early stages and leave his run too late.
Geelong: Race 9; #2 Baffert
Baffert has been making plenty of mistakes in recent weeks and seeing he is likely going to be in red figures there are more negative variables than positive ones which is risky so I would rather be on the Lay side.
