Dubai Honour set for third Sydney autumn carnival campaign
English maestro William Haggas maintains Dubai Honour and Caviar Heights have thrived in their extended quarantine stay as both horses prepare to leave London on a Sydney-bound flight later today.
Dubai Honour and Caviar Heights, along with new Chris Waller stable recruits, Barnavarna and Seo Linn, were due to leave for Sydney last week before the escalating Middle East crisis threw international air travel into chaos and left the four horses stranded in London.
"The horses are in good shape – I just hope we get there (Sydney),'' Haggas told Racing And Sports last night. "At the moment it is all systems go.''
The delayed departure of the international raiders has already forced Haggas to revise the Sydney autumn carnival race program of Caviar Heights.
Caviar Heights was due to clash with Aeliana and Sir Delius in the Group 1 $1 million Ranvet Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 21.
But if Caviar Heights does finally get to Sydney this week, he won't be in quarantine here long enough to allow him to run in the Ranvet.
On the same day, Dubai Honour is $2.80 favourite to defend his title in the Group 1 $1.5 million Tancred Stakes (2400m).
Dubai Honour won the 2023 Ranvet Stakes-Queen Elizabeth Stakes double and then returned last year to win the Tancred.
Haggas indicated Dubai Honour and possibly Caviar Heights will also contest the Group 1 $5 million Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) at Royal Randwick on April 11.
