Doomben – 19th August 2023

Punters can get their day off on the right note with progressive gelding Apophis in the opening event at Doomben on Saturday.

The lightly-raced five-year-old made it two from two this time in when he scored by 2.8 lengths over 1000m at Sunshine Coast, a performance that saw him unbeaten at this distance range.

Apophis produced a rating that puts him clear of these rivals and has scope for further development so can successfully take the step into city racing.

Mark Currie's mare ran on into second last start at Eagle Farm over 1400m so the extra 200m will suit.
