Thoughts on the photo finish: "I thought he just missed.

Thoughts on Derry Grove: "He is a really nice, competitive horse. Things didn't quite go his way in the Kosciuszko but it was in our plans to come to this race from that day. There has been a lot of hard work at home and a lot's gone into this horse because he went pear shaped a couple of preparations ago. Last prep was evidence and again today that he is back bigger and better than ever.

On the winning owners: "It is a good bunch of owners too. Viva Racing with Mitch Lowe, he is a big supporter of us now and it is really good to win a good race for him."

On the slow start to his career: "Between the ears mostly. He didn't want to settle, he didn't want to relax in his races. Brodie Loy, he's not here to ride him today, but he has done a great job with him. He has ridden him right through for a couple of preparations now, taught him to relax, taught him to settle and that's been the key."

Winning Jockey: Nash Rawiller

Thoughts on the win: "I'm just rapt for Matty (Dunn) and his team.

"I hit the line and I wasn't sure. I was head down, bum up, trying my backside off and was just happy to see the number in the frame when I got back.

On his relationship with the Dunn stable: "I think two years ago when Covid was at its worst, I came up here and rather than stay in here (city), I stayed out at his place and rode a bit of track work for him every morning and just fell in love with the operation and how he does it."

"Thankfully from there we've sort of worked up a real good relationship and friendship and it's led to a fair bit of success and this is probably the pinnacle so far.
