Race 1

#12 DRAGON SUNRISE has been a costly purchase to this point of his career but a glimmer of hope for connections was on display last start. He was taken back from the wide alley, which'll be the case again tonight you'd hope, before unleashing a stand out final 600m sectional with jockey Lyle Hewitson aboard. The pair step up in distance here to 1800m, which on paper has him winning, but relying on the same output level is a risky factor, so a win/place ticket is the go.

#1 KASA PAPA commenced his campaign this season on the all weather but a switch back to the turf track at his past three starts has him more comfortable. Add to that, the booking of Zac Purton, barrier 4 and the drop in grade and all facets align with his previous victory in January last year. A final preparation trial last Tuesday was grade fluent and controlled, so he's very much in the hunt.

#7 SUPER SICARIO draws ideally in gate 5 and should be in contention for the lead. He's only recently returned to class 5, which is where he won first up, and with previous winning jockey HUGH BOWMAN back in the saddle he must be strongly considered. He's as fit as a fiddle following a recent run over the 2200m and difficult to defeat, provided he finds consistent rhythm throughout.

#4 HAILTOTHEVICTORS built up a strong foundation of fitness on the all-weather track in the months of December/January and appears close to picking up a win. He worked his backside off at Sha Tin on the turf last start before grinding it out in the straight. Local jockey Jerry Chau, who won the jockey challenge on Sunday at Sha Tin, now takes the ride and is entitled to a helpful 3lb claim.

#5 PERFECT PAIRING was a winner, and placed on two occasions in class 4 here at Happy Valley last season and should be respected on that form. Furthermore, they haven't gone fast enough for him in many races this season which is a vital component to him producing a positive result. With a wide draw to exit from he'll be forced to settle back, but I wouldn't underestimate him in class 5.

Race 5

#5 GIANT BALLON has his hoof on the till and returns to Happy Valley after a brief change of scenery at Sha Tin, where he ran well. Now, the blinkers go back on, as does Zac Purton, and with a 4lbs relief at the weights this isn't the time to be dropping off. Conversely, he possess and awkward dishy action to his off-fore, which shall limit his overall progress, but this is a contest he can win.

#1 GIANT LEAP won two races at the end of last season which took him to a career high rating. He held that form through the off-season break, however the strength of class 3 company this term has consistently overhauled his dash to the line. It's taken all season to find his way back into class 4, so if he leads this event, which he probably does, he'll take some genuine pegging back.

#4 FORTUNE WHISKEY looks nicely placed close to the running rail and should be running a competitive race under exciting young jockey Dylan McMonagle. His forms been patchy this season for various reasons but he hit the line well over this course and trip earlier this season after settling to far back. A must include for exotics.

#2 TACTICAL COMMAND has been trickling down the ratings all season following an excellent report card last campaign where he won 3 times, and placed on 6 other occasions. The race was run to suit last time out, which assisted him in finding old form, but at his best, he'd give most of these a start and a beating.

#12 ENJOY GOLF is the other speed influence that's dropped along way in the ratings and from the inside barrier should position handy. If he finds his way into class 5, he'll be a near on a certainty, but off the light weight with a cushy run here he can still go well. Add to that, recent late support in the betting and the confidence level goes up.
