Happy Valley Preview - 11th February 2026
Brett Davis provides exclusive Preview of Happy Valley races.
Rail - A Course
Race 1
#5 PODIUM has done all his winning over the 1200m at Happy Valley but recently given the impression the extra distance of the 1650m can assist.Like all runners in this grade, he doesn't win out of turn but has been placed over this course and trip. What he'll require to win, in a typically challenging opening class 5, is a good heady ride from regular jockey Jerry Chau and I'm suggesting, win/place, that unfolds.
#1 BLING BLING GENIUS has gone close at his past couple over the 1400m at Sha Tin by closing in strongly from the back. Now transferring to the Happy Valley mile for the first time he appears perfectly placed, from a distance perspective, whilst drawing nicely in gate 5.Hugh Bowman was again on board in a recent, and good looking trial, but Zac Purton has snapped up the ride this time out.
#12 STRONGEST BOY is the winner of only the one race and the equal lowest rated competitor taking part but his recent sectional data rates him highly. With a feather weight of 115lbs on his back, jockey Harry Bentley aboard for a third consecutive ride and cheek pieces again being applied, he must be genuinely respected.Furthermore, he's only been beaten by untimely congestion recently, which can easily shift around.
#4 TELECOM POWER gave a good account of himself under the exact same conditions here last start after travelling sweetly throughout. It was his first attempt at a race over the Happy Valley extended mile and although he didn't break the clock he ran a solid race. With that effort now absorbed, he'll be further improve and in the hunt again.
#3 CARRYON SMILING enjoyed the opportunity to race in the lowest grade for the first time recently and can be entertained as a multiple chance. He won his maiden in class 4 at Sha Tin lasts season over 1400m and in the process defeated now multiple winner, MAX QUE.Unfortunately, he hasn't gone on with it which is why he's in this grade, but he may run a race at a price.

Race 5
#6 STAR PERFORMER produced a career best under Hollie Doyle on International Jockey's night in December and has since recorded another career best in defeat last start.
The middle draw made things tricky out the gates at his latest attempt and he consequently lost ground, but was still able to finish well enough to get within a length and a half. The slightly better draw here for jockey Alexis Badel maps him much better, whilst creating his best opportunity to win.
#2 BUNTA BABY arrived in Hong Kong undefeated from Australia so there's upside still in the tank. He's certainly found form recently and remains difficult to oppose following a dashing win over BEAUTY THUNDER two back, before another encouraging effort last start. He rises 2lbs, and a new jockey gets aboard, but he has the turn of foot to win.
#1 BEAUTY THUNDER holds consistent form and should provide Zac Purton with another solid opportunity to feature but he's going to need luck from the outside draw. The champion jockey has enjoyed taking him for a spin on numerous occasions in the past and it's fair to say they get on pretty well. He'll soak up the early pressure, whilst being handy to the speed, but likely covers to much ground.
#11 SAVVY TWINKLE draws poorly in gate 9 but can still end up finding cover to the home turn. From there, hell have to dig deep if he's to cut down the speedsters of class 4 but should've conserved energy to that point. The weight of his back helps, and the confidence gained from a last start win cant be overlooked.
#7 HAPPY UNITED can also absorb initial speed having drawn low and should continue to hold position around mid-field all the way to the home bend.He hasn't done much racing this campaign, but did improved second up, and therefore becomes a runner of some interest.Futhermore, with his last win in class 3 off a much higher rating he possesses the ability to score.
