Cox Plate list down to 57
Champion trainer Chris Waller still has 21 horses in contention as he chases a six win in the Cox Plate.
A total of 57 horses, including defending champion Via Sistina, remain in the hunt for Cox Plate honours after first declarations have closed.
Via Sistina is one 21 horses champion trainer Chris Waller has left in the Group 1 race over 2040m, regarded as Australia's weight-for-age championship, at Moonee Valley on October 25.
Nominations for the Cox Plate closed last month with Waller holding 27 entries as he looks to add a sixth win in the race and move to within one victory of legendary trainer Tommy Smith.
Horses remaining in the Cox Plate hunt for Waller include Aeliana, Autumn Glow, Buckaroo, Fangirl and Saturday's impressive winners Angel Capital and Lindermann.
The Cox Plate clash between Via Sistina and her Yulong Stud-owned counterpart Treasurethe Moment remains a possibility with the Matt Laurie-trained mare also among first acceptors.
Ciaron Maher has left his seven original entries in as first acceptors, highlighted by Group 1 winners Another Wil, Gringotts, Light Infantry Man, Willydoit and Zardozi.
Bjorn Baker has four runners still in play while Anthony and Sam Freedman along with Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott still have three hopefuls each.
Mr Brightside and Royal Patronage who competed in last year's Cox Plate behind Via Sistina were also amongst the first acceptors along with 11 three-year-olds including Vinrock, Nepotism, Autumn Boy and Wodeton.
Second acceptances for the Cox Plate close September 23.
