Winning Trainer: Leon & Troy Corstens and Will Larkin (Troy speaking)
Biggest achievement?: "100 per cent. It's amazing and to do it with him. It's very special."
Actually getting him to the track?: "I think about it every day. With him, he's so fragile. You never know when it's coming. You know it's going to come and you hope you can hold him together for as long as we can. He loves it here."
(Will Larkin speaking)
Learning the game from Leon and Troy?: "So much hard work goes into it. The whole team at home, we're pretty much patching him up every day at home. You get to this point and it's quite emotional."
Similar look to the Carlyon: "I was very nervous at the top of the straight. I thought we were going to go to the line untested. His turn of foot is just so brilliant. He's such a good horse and what he can do when he's got clear air, is unbelievable."
Learning about his injuries and what it's done for own development? "It's been massive, right from when I started with Leon and Troy we've been patching him together. We've had so many setbacks. You have to think on your feet all the time and not overwork them and use the time to get them up to speed. We had a bit of a rope around us at the start of the preparation when we wanted to kick him off at Caulfield, but he was scratched there, but it's come to the fore. It's huge for the team to get him through that and get him to this level."
Winning Jockey: Ben Allen
On what the horse means to him: "It's unbelievable to get it for these owners and the Malua Racing team. What a story, what a horse.
"The amount of setbacks and how patient and persistent they've had to be with him, it's unbelievable."
Thoughts in the run: "I wasn't laughing in the run, I was absolutely cursing (thinking), 'I hate friggin' races at The Valley in Group 1s, it's so difficult', but I was lucky I had the right horse. He's just got that dog in him."
On Group 1 win No 3: "It's unbelievable. I always said the last one was better than the first one and this is better than the last one. You never know when they're going to come. They're so hard to come by."
Beaten Jockeys:
Luke Nolen (Rothfire): "He was sound. We end up with a lovely run first part, then luck evaded us late. We just didn't have a lot of room to gallop home. He was good and sound."
Jamie Mott (Midwest): "He just had a lot of pressure today and he might be better-suited coming back in grade."
Justin Huxtable (Payline): "He was nothing short of super. He's thrived since he's ever been down here, he's just really mentally turned into this grade of horse, he's really grown up, and he deserves to be down south at this time of year."
Ryan Maloney (Golden Boom): "I think he's run a career PB. The barrier was detrimental to his defeat. He wobbled at the 600 and Craig (Williams) was able to shunt me out and we just lost quite a bit o momentum. He picked himself up again and copped a little more interference but hopefully he gets down the straight because I reckon he'll be a great straight horse."
Luke Currie (Queman): "He was OK. He was a bit wide from his draw, but finished off OK."
Lachlan Neindorf (Sir Sway): "From the outside barrier it was never going to be easy, we've got caught out on a limb which was possibly always going to happen, but he's fought tenaciously. If he draws a barrier in the Manikato he'll serve it up to them."
Blake Shinn (Oak Hill): "We couldn't go the speed early, rode for luck and never got it. He went well."
Harry Coffey (Arabian Summer): "She was super. Ran her guts out, tried hard, probably just beaten by two better horses. Maybe she would like it soft but you don't always get what you want."
John Allen (Skybird): "We were all dressed up with nowhere to go unfortunately. She felt like she had plenty to give but we never got any room in the home straight."
Craig Williams (Alabama Lass): "She was great. She was just a little bit too fresh, too keen and she just really wanted to get it over and done with a little bit quick. She was just a little bit vulnerable late. Nothing against the winner, he was really good horse, he's had the one run, we haven't had the run under our belt so I'm looking to really bouncing off it. Most importantly it gives Ken Kelso an option because she really handled Moonee Valley very well."
Jordan Childs (Niance): "She went well enough. The barrier didn't help us. We had to go back to find some cover and make a wide run, but she's run really well."
Luke Cartwright (La Dorada): "She copped a lot of bumps in what was visually a messy race but to be honest I thought she did well enough to hold her weight and we all know she's better over a (more) suitable distance so I thought she's done well enough."
Jamie Melham (Esha): "She was good, just too much pressure for the filly both ends of the race."
