Australian Harness Racing Preview – Saturday, 21st June 2025

In-form four-year-old Dele Row can secure a place in September’s Eureka in Sydney by winning the Group 2 The Hayden at Albion Park on Saturday night.

The race shapes as a battle of two big yards with Dele Row's trainer Chantal Turpin having six of the 12 runners (including emergencies) and Grant Dixon lining up five.

Dele Row is the one with the form on the board as he has gone to another level this campaign, winning seven of nine this time in.

He has had four weeks off since the last-start victory over the distance but has been kept up to the mark with a trial.

Dele Row draws deeper than he did last time but he has won from even wider a couple of times this preparation and rates as the one to beat.

Stablemate Attachment could pose a danger as he has been going well without a lot of luck, finishing top-four in all of his starts since a fresh win.

He produced a big effort from wide on the back row to place in last week's Queensland Sun and is race fit so could strike.

Dixon's Cool And Classy is a smart filly who has a task against older male rivals but she is very reliable and has an impressive strike rate at Albion Park. The ace draw gives her every chance.

A tricky barrier poses a challenge for Charge Ahead but he is a smart horse who continued his good form with last week's Queensland Sun second, beating Attachment home. He may need some luck but is good enough.

The Constellations carnival is just around the corner and Saturday's meeting sees some of the big-name contenders warming up for major assignments, headed by Inter Dominion favourite Leap To Fame who will be a raging favourite from a good draw in the Lucky Creed Open.

Leading Sydney mare Eye Keep Smiling can add to a series of wins and ramp up her bid to defend last year's Golden Girl title when she tackles some handy rivals in the mares open pace.

Inter Dominion trotting hopefuls Oscar Bonavena and Gus go head-to-head again in the trotting feature and this time tackle last-start Sydney winner Constantinople while Rising Sun and Queensland Derby hopeful Hesitate and Queensland Oaks fancy Soho Americano both rate as big winning chances later on the program.

At Menangle a good draw gives Captains Knock his chance to return to the winners' list for the first time since last year's Inter Dominion series when he tackles the Pryde's Stamina Pace.

He made an encouraging return when he came from wider for third to topliner Don Hugo in last week's Golden Mile and as that was his first outing for more than three months it is sure to have improved him.

His rival Kingmaker cops a wide draw but is flying with back-to-back wins at the circuit and distance, the latest in the Listed JD Watts FFA.

The ever-reliable Max Delight added to a long string of wins and placings when third to Kingmaker last week while Nyack is another in form, beating Kingmaker to win from this barrier two back and getting within a head of that rival last start.

Group 1-winning Kiwi trotter Bet N Win will ramp up his Inter Dominion campaign when he makes his Sydney debut against capable Victorian Harry Stamper while another ID Trotting contender Arcee Phoenix makes his return at Melton on Saturday night, his first appearance since a TAB Trot win in New Zealand in April.
