Picture: Racing Photos

1 - Berkeley Square – 59.5kg
Dan O'Sullivan – Luke Nolen

Quality galloper who was back to his best, winning at Flemington last time, beating Garachico over the 2500m. He's never been tried over the two miles but looks the right horse at the right time and has won 10 of 39 starts and more than $2.1m in prizemoney. Inside gate should give him every chance.

2 – Newfoundland – 54kg
Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott – Tim Clark

Proven stayer from the Waterhouse/Bott yard who was 2nd in this race last year before running 5th the Roy Higgins behind Deakin. Has come back well winning second-up over 2400m in the Listed Australia Day Stakes at Warwick Farm and was beaten 5.12 lengths behind Berkeley Square last time out at Flemington. Won a 1400m Flemington jump-out since.

3 – Eventually – 53kg
Sarah Rutten – Teagan Voorham

Local mare who caused a big upset when she came from midfield to run down Highland Bling in the Group 3 Lord Reims. She was travelling a long way out and did a big job to get over the top of rivals. She'll stay all day and must be respected.

4 – Komachi – 53kg
Will Clarken – Lucy Fiore

Was game in defeat in the Strathalbyn Cup two runs back and then scored a tough win over Crimson Vine in the Listed Premier's Plate. He was on speed when beaten 3.64 lengths in 8th behind Eventually in the Group 3 Lord Reims last time.

5 - Crimson Vine – 53kg
Sarah Rutten – Kayla Crowther

Handy stayer who was back to winning form over 2000m at Murray Bridge on January 17 beating Snoopy Now and followed up running 2nd, beaten 0.47 lengths behind Komachi in the Listed Premier's Plate. Ran another game race after covering ground in the Lord Reims running 3rd beaten 0.56 lengths.

6 - Highland Bling – 53kg
Phillip Stokes – Lachlan Neindorf

Progressive stayer who has only had the 14 starts. He looked all over the winner before he was nailed on the line by Eventually in the Group 3 Lord Reims here last time. He gets a sticky gate but looks a horse right up to winning this.

7 - Kirkliston Blu – 53kg
Roslyn Day – Dom Tourneur

Good effort to fight off Komachi to win the Strathalbyn Cup over 2050m three starts back and was then beaten 5.34 lengths behind that horse in the Listed Premier's Plate. Bounced back with another honest effort when beaten 1.54 lengths in 4th behind Eventually in the Group 3 Lord Reims and the rise to two miles won't worry him.

8 - Dictionary – 53kg
John Maloney – Teo Nugent

Racing well, winning at Flemington over 2520m back on January 17 and he was again good late when beaten 1.55 lengths in 5th behind Berkeley Square there last time over the 2500m. Will stay and should be somewhere in the mix.

9 - Hasta La War – 53kg
Sue Murphy –
 Stacey Metcalfe
Veteran stayer who was one of the major fancies for this race back in 2020 and has endured a rocky road since. He ran 3rd in the 2021 Herbert Power and Geelong Cup before he was injured again. Came back to run 3rd in the 2023 Andrew Ransden and also the 2024 Lord Reims behind Yellowbrick Road. He's been out of form for a while now, but was OK beaten 3.92 lengths behind Eventually in the Lord Reins.

10 - Hurry Curry – 53kg
Danny O'Brien – Jamie Kah

Lightly-raced mare who tackled the Group 3 Auraria here in her 3yo season. She has been a steady improver this time around and was $13-$9 before scoring a narrow win over 2400m at Sandown last time. Jamie Melham rides and is going to be right there and sure to be popular with punters.

11 - Samuel Langhorne – 53kg
Michael Kent –
 Luk Cartwright
Placed behind Goldenstatewarrior in the Banjo Paterson over 2500m last July and was good first-up running 4th at Caulfield over 2400m and again strong late in the Group 3 Lord Reims last time beaten 2.6 lengths in 6th behind Eventually. Will stay all day.

12 - Urban Outlook – 53kg
John Symons and Shiela Laxon – Ashley Morgan

Progressive stayer who was a Sandown winner over 3000m on February 4 and followed up winning at Cranbourne over the 2600m. Settled back when beaten 5.26 lengths behind Hurry Curry at Sandown over the 2400m and will appreciate getting out to two miles.

13 - American Wolf – 53kg
Trant Bussuttin and Natalie Young –
 Jett Stanley
Won the Listed VRC St Leger over 2800m last April before coming to SA and was well tried when beaten 5 lengths behind Femminile in the Group 1 SA Derby over 2500m. Has a solid fitness base for this running 3rd behind Urban Outlook at Cranbourne and was then back before making ground when beaten 2.41 lengths in 7th behind Hurry Curry at Sandown last time.

14 – Sentimental Flame – 53kg
Travis Doudle – Will Price

Handy local stayer who ran 4th in the 2024 Group 3 SA Fillies Classic over 2500m and was racing well this time last year, running 5th in the Listed Premier's Plate and 6th in the Group 3 Lord Reims before she was beaten 5.79 lengths behind Silent Surrente in the Cup. Fitter for three runs back and was beaten 3.15 lengths behind Alainge at Balaklava last time.

15 - Alainge – 53kg
Garret Lynch – Sairyn Fawke

Placed at Gawler in a BM72 three starts back and was back to winning form when a 2.59 length winner over Jackson Run at Balaklava last time in a BM66.

16 - Zibulon – 53kg
Paul Preusker –
 Patrick Maloney
Beaten at Mount Gambier over 2050m three starts back and then defeated Van Roy at Stawell before a good effort when beaten 0.2 lengths behind Hurry Curry at Sandown last time over the 2400m. Progressive and looks a knockout chance.

17 - Sabre Athena – 53kg
Mark Grieg –
 Kate Walters
Won a high weight over 3400m at Warrnambool back on November 30 but has been well beaten as a $101 chance at his two runs since. Hard to see threatening these.

18 – Chance Taken – 53kg
Chris Bieg – Dylan Caboche

Good winner first-up in Australia over 1400m at Murray Bridge back in June and has been racing fairly in what looks to be inferior races, beaten 5.09 lengths in 6th behind Alainge at Balaklava last time.
