We'll endeavour to run through the form, incorporate appropriate stats and also supply a betting prediction which won't always just be who will win.

GWS v SYDNEY

Friday 25 July @ Engie Stadium

Last of the Sydney Derbies for the year given the Swans are highly unlikely to play Finals but they could be shaped by this game.

The Swans have been owning GWS of late and even managed to beat them in the playoffs. The world was off its axis that night.

What the Giants have in their favour is they have something more substantial to play for. And they have the form as well.

They did what was needed to be done, running over Essendon, despite it being a rather ho hum affair.

Getting Jake Stringer to impact (as he did) when they also have Hogan, Cadman and Greene in the forward line, sees them as dangerous.

Match GWS Sydney Ground
Last time they met     10.13 [73] 12.15 [87] SCG
Last 10 matches 2 wins 8 wins
Notes Sydney has won the last 5 v GWS including their first win against them in a Final.
Overall record is 20/10 to the Swans.
Their biggest rivals are just hitting a bit of form. In all likelihood they've left their run too late but could have a lovely springboard into 2026.

The form is a two way street. They are winning but not beating anyone of late (Port/Freo/StK/North). This will test that.

One thing that isn't contested is the Rolls Royce from Newcastle. Jeepers Isaac Heeney is having a trot. It might not be 2024 form but not far behind. The side's form impacts there.

Sydney is a hope for sure. But the midfield has to win and win big. Just wonder if the weakened Sydney defence can possibly contain the GWS talls.

Match Selection: GWS by 15 points
