Racing and Sports will provide analysis of games in the 2025 AFL Season.
We'll endeavour to run through the form, incorporate appropriate stats and also supply a betting prediction which won't always just be who will win.
COLLINGWOOD v HAWTHORN
Friday 30 May @ MCG
It is 1st against 6th and the two best performing sides out of Melbourne will have a huge audience on and off the track.
However the question is are they in fact deserved holders of such lofty standings?
Collingwood certainly are. They were very undermanned (mostly by design) and yet even after trailing North at the half, it was 11 goals to 3 thereafter.
Their young players and no names took on board the status and ripped in. Such a last quarter thrashing is a sign they want to keep running.
| Match | Collingwood | Hawthorn | Ground |
| Last time they met | 9.13 [67] | 20.13 [133] | MCG |
| Last 10 matches | 4 wins | 6 wins | |
| Notes | In the last 19 games, Hawthorn has scored 100+ points on 10 occasions. | ||
| During that time only 2 times did Collingwood do that. | |||
The losses are to Port (somehow ???), Geelong, Gold Coast and Brisbane with the wins much further down the ladder. Now they step up again to the Pies.
They were right in it to just before the Half and then couldn't hang on to Brisbane. Much was lost in the middle of the ground.
Once the Hawks couldn't get into the fast ball movement, they were no hope of out-marking them.
Until Hawthorn show they can beat a big rival, you have to keep giving it to the Pies. Even if it's closer than it should be.
Match Selection: Collingwood by 14 points
Suggested Bets: Collingwood -8.5 @ $1.90
