Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for January 25.
Australian thoroughbred meeting are today held at Wyong, Grafton, Moe, Gatton, Mount Gambier, Pinjarra and Hobart.
WYONG: RACE 6 @ 4:05 PM
CHIX (11) created a big impression on debut in the small field when saluting over 1250m in a Super Maiden at Beaumont (Newcastle). Massive leap in grade when dropped out sharply to run eighth over 1300m at Randwick. Was slow to recover on that occasion and since fitted with a trial placing over 1050m. Expected to return to form in this easier contest. HYDROMETER (1) goes well on his home track, and a win looks imminent. Nailed late with the 61kg when second over 1200m at Gosford. Claim helps and will push forward. KYEEMA (2) first start on his home track and will find this much easier from the inside draw. No match for Oui Oui Oui when ninth over 1400m at Randwick in Midway grade. Assess on his narrow second, first-up. Respect. CAN'T TOUCH THIS (8) also comes right into calculations after some key scratchings. Gets some help with the claim.
SELECTIONS: Chix can bounce back.

GRAFTON: RACE 4 @ 3:40 PM
SOUTHAMPTON FLARE (4) was crunched from $1.85 into $1.50 when resuming last start over 1015m at Ballina but after leading for home was run down near the line. Gets a little weight relief under today's scale, strips fitter, and the blinkers go on so he looks a terrific chance to open the account. DANCE GAVIN DANCE (3) debuted last start at Ballina where he stalked Southampton Flare into the straight and stuck with him all the way, finishing third but just 0.4 lengths behind today's key rival. Plenty of upside and should be thereabouts again. KAYAKO (9) is a Spirit Of Boom first starter. Has trialled six times dating back to March, the latest effort the pick. Certainly ready for this. Debutant DIDIE'S MEADOW (7) is a stablemate to the favourite and has shown enough in her lead-up work to suggest she can make her presence felt. May just need the run though.
SELECTIONS: Southampton Flare to break through.
MOE: RACE 6 @ 4:15 PM
STELLAR MOFEED (4) looks well placed second up. She was off a 10 month spell at Sandown Lakeside but ran much better than her $20 SP would've suggested, sticking on gamely for second in a tougher race. She should strip fitter now and get every chance from the inside gate. GRACIOUS DIVA (9) is knocking on the door having just found one better in her past two starts, getting too far back on each occasion. She draws wide again but will be hard to hold out with the right run. LULU DARLING (2) has placed in both runs back and should be at peak fitness with strong winning claims. ZADAR SUNSET (3) was okay fresh and can sneak into the money.
SELECTIONS: Stellar Mofeed to win.
GATTON: RACE 5 @ 3:27 PM
SPOILT ROTTEN (7) returns after a spell and started the last campaign in good style placing over 1100m at Toowoomba. He just missed there after as favourite and forget his latest when he was outgraded. Should be naturally improved and has found the right race. GEITZ (8) raced on the speed before fading to finish fourth last start when resuming over 1000m at Sunshine Coast. he will be fitter and has plenty up her sleeve. Has a wide gate to manage so she will need a good ride. The same goes for RUTHVEN RUSH (6), who looked a run short at Toowoomba first-up. Has the ability but will also have to do it the hard way. CAPTAIN BULL (2) has to be kept very safe on debut. Was an easy trial winner at Toowoomba and KWT will give him every chance from the inside gate. Elevate if the big money comes.
SELECTIONS: Backing Spoilt Rotten.
MT GAMBIER: RACE 7 @ 4:40 PM
VAN ROY (8) went forward and proved too strong last time out, scoring with plenty in hand over a similar trip at Penola. Backs up quickly and gets in light with slight rise in grade. Can make it two on the trot. KHOR (5) wasn't far away last time out, finishing fourth over 1700m at Warrnambool. The extra journey should play into his hands and he strips fitter third-up. Can play a major role. SURFY PETE (12) was in red-hot form to kick off the prep with back-to-back wins, and has since placed twice. Is drawn to get the gun run from the inside under the light weight and can feature once more. DARTBOARD (7) struggled last time in town but his two runs prior were good. Backs up quickly and reunites with Hill, who knows him well. Can bounce back sharply.
SELECTIONS: Van Roy can win again.
PINJARRA SCARPSIDE: RACE 7 @ 5:00 PM
VATICAN STORM (10) trialled well coming in and was just far too good on resumption, winning by 1.9L over 1200m on the main track here. The form out of that has been superb, with 3 winners coming out of it from just 5 subsequent starters. Looks suited by the rise in trip, he draws well and he can go back-to-back. CANTRIX (8) got the job done by 0.5L on the main track here last start as the race favourite. Out in trip again should suit and this looks to set up beautifully for her. Can repeat the dose in what looks a favourable scenario. PRINCESS IN RED (1) missed by 1L two back before a 0.7L defeat most recently, jumping the fav on both occasions. She's knocking on the door of another victory and she comes into this on the fresh side. Can play a leading role. SURF PATROL (2) can improve third-up and can be flying late in the race.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Vatican Storm.
HOBART: RACE 7 @ 4:45 PM
DAYTONA DIVA (1) won a 64 here and then was backed off the map again and kept coming to just miss as favourite over 1600m at Launceston. Steps up a level but she's the one they have to beat. FIERCE 'N FABULOUS (6) brings strong form to peak. Gives away starts but finally draws an inside barrier and she's a quinella hope. Ditto JENNI THE CAT (3) who is third-up seeking the hat-trick. Did it easy last time and the inside gate provides her the opportunity to enjoy a soft run. MISS LYRA (4) can show more over the longer sprint and shouldn't be far away. BRIGHT NIGHT (2) was back on track the latest will also be around the mark.
SELECTIONS: Backing Daytona Diva.
