Sandown: Race 8 @ 4.40pm

THE TAJ MAHAL won this last year. Was coming off a solid effort in the Mackinnon 12 months ago, and this time he arrives off a well-held run in the Moonee Valley Cup, but his JRA Cup and Caulfield Cup runs show him going just as well and he gets a chance to run things on his terms in the smaller field now. VENTURA STORM was backed off the boards to win that Moonee Valley Cup. Did a good job before failing to fire in the Melbourne Cup. This is the right race for him. LORD FANDANGO missed last week. Bendigo run was promising. Libran is going well but struggles to break through. SELECTIONS: #4 The Taj Mahal can go back to back from #2 and #6.

Rosehill: Race 5 @ 3:05pm

FIRSTHAND was charging home late at Randwick last start. Threw his chances away at the beginning of the race when missing the start by three lengths. He could atone with better manners. PASSAGE OF TIME resumed well behind the talented Cradle Mountain at this course over 1200m a fortnight ago. Will be fitter again and appeals second up. JUST DREAMING's two runs this prep have been full of merit. Should be hitting her straps third up and gets to Rosehill now where she has an excellent record. SELECTIONS: #6 Firsthand has each way appeal from #8 and #7.

Doomben: Race 8 @ 5.12pm (AEDT)

TYZONE is a smart sprinter resuming off top form. Has had four starts for Toby Edmonds for two wins and two close placings in stakes races, the latest a third in the Ramornie. Has won three of four fresh runs and should be ready to fire off two good trials, winning the latest. VICTOREM is a lightly-raced gelding freshened since his resuming fifth in the Kosciuszko. Showed his talent last campaign by winning the Country Championships at Randwick and running second in the Hawkesbury Guineas. Unbeaten second up. RINGO'S A ROCKSTAR charged home and got close when resuming. Has won three of five second up runs. TEST THE WORLD has trialled since a good resuming run in a G3 in Sydney. SELECTIONS: Backing a fresh #3 Tyzone to win off two good trials from #10, #5 and #9.
Morphettville Parks: Race 8 @ 5.31pm (AEDT)

OVER AND ABOVE resumes after showing plenty of promise at his maiden campaign, highlighted by a Sandown win and a Caulfield second. Hasn't raced for eight months but prepared for this with a trial win. Good enough to win this first up. DOMINATION can mix his form and disappointed as favourite last start but no doubting his ability on his day. Has to rate as a leading chance. MISS LABELLE was only beaten 2.2L at Moonee Valley last start after finishing second in Adelaide at her two other runs this campaign. Respect. KABINI can progress off a resuming second. SELECTIONS: #10 Over And Above can win this first up on his way to better things. Backing straight out from #4, #9 and #12.
Ascot: Race 7 @ 8:12pm (AEDT)

Interesting affair with a number of differing form-lines converging in this year's Group 3 R.J. Peters Stakes. Speed anticipated from Oliver's Travels, Great Again, Wrinkly and Nelson's Flight. ACTION has been very good in both starts to being this preparation and should be nearing his peak racing third up. Would still prefer him over further, but it's hard to knock the way he is going and the expected strong tempo should play nicely into his hands. Rates top and should prove very hard to beat. FREO gapped his rivals at this track last start and while stepping up sharply in grade, he is expected to measure right up. GREAT AGAIN continues to race well and appears the next in line. SELECTIONS: Very keen on #2 Action from #9 and #5.
