One Horse Town set Triumph target
“If Maestro Conti is around 8-1 and we’re 33s then to me that makes no sense”
Harry Derham believes the current price of his JCB Triumph Hurdle contender One Horse Town "makes no sense" as the handler prepares his Cheltenham regular for another trip to Prestbury Park next month.
The four-year-old made it four wins on the bounce with a professional performance in the Grade 2 JCB Triumph Trial Juvenile Hurdle. He lost little in defeat when third behind Adam Nicol's exciting Minella Study back at the track in December and after chasing home the equally-promising Maestro Conti at the same venue last month, Derham is happy to return straight to Cheltenham instead of heading to Kempton for a possible tilt at the Adonis Hurdle.
He said: "He'll go straight to the Triumph after what I thought that was a very good run on Trials day.
"The more I watch it back, I just wonder if he gave it away a little going to the last, he just slowed down and pricked his ears.
"If Maestro Conti is around 8/1 and we're 33s then to me that makes no sense and we're going to go and have a go.
"I don't want him to go to the Adonis, have a hard race and then regret it if he runs flat in the Triumph. If he finishes seventh in the Triumph then fine, but I think he deserves to take his chance and be aimed at it."
