There are plenty of short-priced favourite floating about today and whilst a number of them look worth avoiding, Forglen ought to have every chance of regaining the winning thread in the second division of the Midnite A Next Generation Betting App Handicap (4.57) at Wolverhampton .

A course and distance winner last season, Forglen  had been running well without finding the scoresheet this year until knuckling down well to prevail over a trip just shy of two miles at Lingfield in January.

It was a good effort to get up late home at Lingfield, but he arguably bettered that form next time out at Southwell, shaping nicely behind an in-form rival after suffering a troubled passage at the four-furlong marker that cost him some valuable momentum.

That latest performance is worth upgrading and as a result, I'm surprised to see him out to 9/4 for this evening's Class 6 contest. The booking of Oisin McSweeny, who is operating at a decent 18% strike rate for the last two weeks, looks like a positive in a restricted riders race of this nature, while the form of his latest effort has also taken a boost thanks to the winner going in twice subsequently.

This looks like a good bit of placing by William Stone and he can regain the winning thread.

Forglen – 1pt Win

Odds – 9/4

There's plenty of pace on in the Midnite, Building The Future Of Betting Handicap (6.30) later on the card and that ought to suit Coco Hill, who looks overpriced with the in-form Taryn Langley now taking off 5lb.

Trained by shrewd handler Adrian Wintle, Coco Hill hasn't won since October 2022, but she certainly has the ability to at this level and she's fairly priced that each-way punters can be advised to get involved.

It was a pleasing effort that she put up following 148 days off and after a wind-operation when sixth of eight over course and distance last week, keeping on well behind the principles to be beaten two and a half lengths after missing the break.

It's unlikely that she'll have the early pace to lay a glove on potential speed angles Forever Noah, Captain Kinsella and Colours Of Freedom, all of whom are towards the top of the betting, but she should be able to slot in nicely from stall nine whilst others hopefully go too quick out in front.

The form of that recent sixth also has some substance to it with the third placed Kipp Kelly scoring subsequently, while Colours Of Freedom, who finished fifth in that event, went on to fill the runner-up spot in the same race.

Coco Hill might not be one for maximum faith but at the current prices, she's worth chancing in a low-grade contest of this nature.

Coco Hill - 0.5pt Each-way

Odds – 16/1
