Graffard hoping drop in trip can see Quisisana put it up to Romantic Warrior

Francis-Henri Graffard believes that dropping back to ten furlongs should help bring out the best in Quisisana as she attempts to expose any chinks in the armour of Romantic Warrior in the Hong Kong Cup.

There's no doubt that all eyes will be on Romantic Warrior as he goes out to strut his stuff at Sha Tin on Sunday, but who could put it past Francis-Henri Graffard to cause a monumental upset.

Already a Breeders' Cup, Japan Cup and Arc-winning trainer this season, Francis-Henri Graffard will be hoping to end a remarkable 2025 on a high when Quisisana embarks on what looks like being a swansong outing.

A winner of six of her ten starts to date, Quisisana progressed through the ranks to complete a four-timer in the Prix Jean Romanet before producing creditable ninth and third place finishes when stepped up to a mile and a half in both the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and Qipco British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes.

"She's a very nice filly," said Graffard. "I think I made a mistake to step her up in trip last time and I think ten furlongs will be much more suitable, so after the Arc and the race at Ascot we really wanted to drop back in distance.

"She's due to go to stud but I wanted to give it a go here in Hong Kong. I'm very happy with her and any placings will be a benefit, so I'm looking forward to seeing her running. I really like this mare, and she moved beautifully on the track."

On potential tactics and how they go about dealing with Romantic Warrior, Graffard, who evidently understands the task in hand, remains happy to allow Soumillon free rein on Sunday.

He added: "We have been drawn in four, Christophe Soumillon knows the filly very well, so I will not give him any orders. I just hope there will be some pace in the race.

"I think she's in top form and she's much lighter now towards the end of the season. She's had some hard races but I'm hoping the ten furlongs will be a big help for her."
