Bowen joins elite group with 200th winner this season
Sean Bowen became just the fifth rider to notch 200 winners in a season in Britain when successfully steering Olly Murphy’s Harbour Island to victory in the Roperhurst.com Scrubbers from Barry Novices' Hurdle at Ffos Las.
Bowen, who rode 180 winners en-route to becoming champion jump jockey in Britain last season, produced his mount with a well-timed run over the last to pick up the running before pushing the even-money favourite Harbour Island eight lengths clear crossing the line.
Sir Anthony McCoy, Brian Hughes, Richard Johnson and Peter Scudamore are the only other four jockeys in Britain to ride 200 winners in a season.
"I think he was the last leg of my first five-time as well, so he's been a lucky horse for me," said Bowen on Sky Sports Racing.
"He's a horse that's growing up all the time and I think he'll make up into a nice chaser."
